Halbeath, Dunfermline

Geddes worked closely with the client to create a viable masterplan framework for this large strategic land allocation. The proposal is for 1,400 homes, together with community, commercial and education facilities. We engaged with the local community and Council to gain regular feedback on the evolving proposal.

We coordinated the project team to complete a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment. Our holistic approach ensured that the submitted proposal addressed all relevant Council policy, as well as client aspirations.

Geddes developed a phasing strategy to demonstrate how this large allocated site and its infrastructure can be brought forward in line with the client’s needs, while helping the Council meet its targets for new housing in the area.

Planning Permission in Principle was approved in early 2019, subject to a legal agreement. We are now working with the client on the detailed design proposal for the first phase of development.

  • Geddes delivered a viable masterplan framework for the development of 1,400 new homes and other mixed uses, in accord with Council and client requirements
  • We carried out a staged pre-application consultation process with the community and the Council, including a ‘World Café’ event for community representatives, plus two public exhibitions
  • Geddes successfully coordinated a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment, presented as a single cohesive document
